What is Freemasonry
A phrase sometimes heard is Freemasonry Makes Good Men Better. This epithet includes two important points
“Good Men” - there are criteria to be met before a man may become a freemason
“Better” – being a freemason provides opportunity for self-improvement.
The Grand Lodge of BC and Yukon provides the following description, clear and to the point:
Freemasonry can be described as, "a brotherhood of good men meeting and working in harmony; applying strong moral and ethical values to personal, family and community behaviour and upholding a code of protecting and caring for others.
More simply, "Freemasonry gives men of good character the opportunity to make themselves even better."
